Heparin sodium is a preparation containing the sodium salt of a sulphated glucosaminoglycan present
in mammalian tissues. It is prepared from the intestinal mucosae of pigs. Heparin sodium is a white
or almost white powder, moderately hygroscopic, freely soluble in water.
Heparinised Saline Injection is a clear, colourless, sterile, preservative-free solution containing
Heparin Sodium BP (porcine mucous) and Sodium Chloride BP in Water for Injections BP.
